I have been massively, stupidly remiss on memory and skill updates! Quick rundown of what he's gotten:

Significant Neutral: favor for Elaine
Significant Neutral: House of Windowless Rooms
Skill: superhuman strength
Skill: myth/god ultimate genre savvy
Skill: superhuman endurance

Possibly I'll do a more involved writeup later, but these all sort of lead in the same direction, and that direction is that Lucifer is very aware now that he's not human, he's used to dealing with kind of crazy things, and that he's capable of being very tricksy and savvy and playing a long, manipulative game. Also, the concept that he can be summoned is pretty interesting, if nothing else. It all makes him very confident that he's part of some sort of sprawling mythos, and that he's likely toward the top of that particular pyramid.

Getting strength and endurance back means that he's baaaasically back in his Lux-era body but slightly better--he doesn't have his wings or most of his power, but he's not on a base human level anymore. Now he's got a body that can cope with his persistent inability/refusal to grasp the concepts of pain and danger as relating to himself. People who have supernatural person pings may be getting them more strongly now. Lucifer is an angel, not a demon, but demons/vampires/whatever can feel free to be pinged however they'd like.

Genre savvy means that he may--unless it will harsh someone's squee, because I am thoroughly anti-squee-harshing--recognize mythological characters and stories, potentially including the myth/story-based personae. Because he's himself, knowing a thing doesn't mean sharing it, and Lucifer has pretty strong feelings on not interfering much with teams making decisions in games. This skill also solidifies his instincts on god-manners and ritual behaviors and such.

In summary, Satan feels more like himself, and is pretty zen at the moment.

MEMORY ROUNDUPPPPPPPPPPP. Doing these out of order, because memory 4 is easy and 3 and 5 are...not.

Oh, and as a note--a lot of Lucifer's significant memories are...pretty large, as memories go! Sometimes they span days of time or across issues of the comic. This is partially because the comic is paced in a way so that anything significant takes time, and as a character Lucifer does not have many 'scenes' of only a few panels that are significant, but also partially because a day or two is not actually a lot of time for Lucifer at all. This is a dude who has been kickin' it since before the universe even happened and started the biggest war ever a few seconds after clocks officially started ticking at all.

Memory 4
: trivial positive: playing the piano at Lux

Reactions/Knowledge:
  • i can...play the piano?
  • a bar! called lux! i owns it.
  • Mazikeen is there.
  • this is all pleasing in the memory.
This memory is seriously trivial, but it is interesting for flavor because it is the first memory Lucifer has of doing a mostly normal human thing in the normal human world. Outside of context, it doesn't fit at all with any of the other memories he has. Mazikeen is the only familiar element, and the clothes he's wearing match his Sterling uniform. Otherwise this whole thing dun make a whit of sense, and he's not sure what to do with it, especially as it came after memory 3, which was a doozy.

Memory 3: significant negative: Death via Basanos, conversation with Death, Elaine

spoileriffic summary goes here )

Reactions/Knowledge:
  • there is a place toward which he feels a deep, incredibly pervasive responsibility.
  • fucking with that place is not. cool.
  • under normal circumstances, it seems to be a massively bad idea to fuck with him or his stuff.
  • something happened with someone called Izanami that set him up for this defeat.
  • he is so powerful that, when tipped the right way, he is possibly an all-consuming force.
  • Death is a cute little goth chick, but her being there is really annoying.
  • he is very, very, very determined not to die.
  • Yahweh created him and Michael to create the universe omgwtfbbq??!?!?!
  • he was willing to accept help from this angel/spirit/girl who obviously cared about him, even though he probably knew it was going to go quite badly for her.
  • that girl is special somehow.
  • oh, and two of his names

This memory throws Lucifer hard. Until this point he has assumed that he was important, but the level of his importance just seriously skyrocketed. He found out his name, a hint of his station, the fact that he feels possessive of a whole world under attack from something he could've dealt with previously, went through an incredibly agnozing fireball experience, and that he possibly killed a little girl he actually seems to trust, all in one memory. What this means for everyone else? Lucifer is more likely to be cranky, or at least short with people, and he has had quite a lot on his mind. He'll no longer really be bored, either, or possibly quite so flippant with the Personae. That last bit really depends on his mood at the time and which one, though.

Memory 5: significant positive: getting his wings back

Getting this memory back following closely on the other one is pretty ironic, because this is the time where (offscreen to him) the trap was being set that ended in fireballing. This memory also spans a few issues of comic, but only a day or two of time. It is considerably fuzzier than the last one, because that's just too much infodump, and a few bits of this memory can be taken separately. All he will remember are the basic details, and it'll feel on the whole pretty different from his previous memories, which were all very clear.

Reactions/Knowledge:
  • Izanami had his wings. that was fine, but then he wanted them back, they don't want to give over.
  • something happens that forces Izanami's hand to give the wings back, but this isn't part of the memory (ANNOYING).
  • his wings are somehow NOT AS EXPECTED (but they look like every other memory he has of them, huh).
  • having them reattached is intensely painful, but very necessary to accomplish A Thing what is incredibly important to him.

This memory is just confusing, yo. Lucifer cannot figure out why he'd want to give up his wings, or how they'd fall into the hands of a lesser, elder god of the underworld. The fact that the middle of it is just...missing...is annoying. It is also deeply annoying that he has no sense of scale or time for these things. There's no hint in this memory at all of the trap set for him, but he knows from the previous one that somehow there was, so this happened before that. It is beginning to occur to him that unless he's led a very condensed life indeed that he possibly doesn't  physically age in a normal fashion. This is also the second memory in quick succession of things that involved incredibly intense pain. In true Lucifer fashion, this doesn't mean he'll attempt to avoid pain. instead, he's even more likely to just ignore it, because few things hurt as bad as being burnt alive, man.

Memory 2

This struck me as completely hilarious in an OOC fashion when I read what Coyote picked, because the page in reference (here) is the page from which I got the icon that I used when talking to the animals in true Disney Princess fashion.

Anyway.

Memory: trivial neutral: convincing the cherubim.

Reactions/Knowledge:
  • Wings! I has them. wtf.
  • Wow the Silver City.
  • Talking to spheres of light that a) sing b) answer back in emotions.
  • But there are so many tangents. So many choices. So many possibilities open up once the sterility of perfection is renounced.
    • so the spherical things are meant to be perfect.
    • and apparently I was too, but then rejected that.
    • and the choice of one's own destiny is really a big deal for me. even winged me talking to singing balls of light
  • This is all leading toward something, but that part is fuzzy. CHOICE IS IMPORTANT!!1!
  • Most of the cherubim weren't interested in making choices.
  • CHOICE IS IMPORTANT!!1!
In the scope of Lucifer's life experiences, this is pretty trivial. He didn't win over most of the cherubim with his concepts of choice and autonomy--they pretty much ignored him. He didn't consider this a big loss. However, in the context of Aather, this reinforces the idea that choice and free will are important and that just going along with things is not the way to live.

This will be interesting with regards to the Personae. He doesn't currently have a lot of respect for the Personae or for their situation on the whole, and his belief in the superiority of autonomy is lining him up for a smackdown. Right now he's doing what the Personae want because there's a reward in it for him that he has consistently been receiving. When that changes, as it inevitably will, he'll probably stop being good. As in canon, a smackdown will put him in the mind of playing a long game, and he'll fall back into line to work less obviously toward his own ends.

Skill 2

Skill: languages. possibly all of them.

What he gets: The obvious. Is this super useful in Aather right now? Only if he gets to talk to the wildlife and/or the vegetation. But now he can listen in on ALL the conversations. And he will, because he's like that. It also makes him more aware that yeah, there is indeed something that makes him a special snowflake. He likes that.

Skill: Being the Lightbringer.

What he gets: So Lucifer is the Lightbringer, the Morningstar, etc etc etc whatever. He made the stars. Fire is one of his thangs. In the context of Aather, he can now make him some fire. Plain old fire, not raining starstuff or blowing shit up or whatever, although he could figure out combustible gasses with opportunity. And fire won't hurt him unless the Personae say it will, cause I assume they roll like that.

Memory: Trivial Positive: Sex with Mazikeen.

Reactions/knowledge:
  • Hey, a libido! And some idea how to use it.
  • Wow, I had sex with a lady who only has half a face and her brain hanging out, and that wasn't weird or distasteful. Hm.
  • I had genitals then, but not now. How about that.
  • Mazikeen was an ally, but a friend? A lover? A tool? All of the above? Emotions are interesting.
